This recipe for a sparkling Blueberry-Basil Lemonade is a perfect thirst quencher for the 4th of July… with or without your added alcohol of choice.
Ingredients:
1 cup of water
1 cup of white sugar
2 cups of fresh basil
2 cups of blueberries
1/2 cup of water
2 tbsps of lemon juice
4 cups of carbonated sparkling water
Directions:
Bring one cup of water to boil in saucepan. Stir the sugar and basil into the water and return to boil.
Cook at a boil for about ten minutes and immediately remove from heat. Chill in refrigerator until slightly cool, about 15 minutes.
Blend the blueberries, 1/2 cup of water and the lemon juice in a blender until smooth; pour into pitcher. Remove the basil leaves from the simply syrup mixture. Add the carbonated water to the mixture and stir gently.
