The 3rd Annual Youth Fitness Ride is October 9th in Fernandina Beach, Florida beginning at 7:30 in the morning at Club 14 FitnessClub 14 Fitness, so motorists be careful of the many cyclists who will be sharing the road.
All ages are welcome to ride and proceeds from this year’s ride will benefit local youth through LIFT Florida, which operates under Authentic Impact, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization and sponsored by Second Amendment Gun Range.
The Florida High School Athletic Association, like many school activites, is losing funding and our kids are working out in small spaces and using old equipment which is potentially dangerous. LIFT Florida permits professional athletic trainers to work with local children on form, technique and basic weight lifting development moves.
Harvey Newton, an olympic coach who lives here in NE Florida is teaching coaches to coach and great things are happening including the potential for Florida to turn out some world class athletes! This program helps students become well rounded individuals as they are held accountable for their GPA, serve as volunteers in the community and are expected to work out in the gym at least 3 times per week. Some of these young athletes will receive scholarships that will help pay for their entry fees, gear and travel expenses to participate in exciting, weight lifting competitions.
For more information, call or visit Sandbox Athletics, located inside Club 14 Fitness to work with Fernandina High School athletes and now open at the Winn Dixie shopping plaza for the convenience of student athletes in Yulee.
Until then, come out and support the Youth Fitness Ride and pick your route of 25, 35, 45 or even 65 miles to ride on Saturday! You can still register for the ride at www.Active.com.
See you there!
