Talk Like a Pirate at the Farmers Market in FernandinaSeptember 19th is “International Talk Like a Pirate Day” (yes, it’s a real holiday) and the Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market has plenty to offer to a hungry pirate!

Fresh, seasonal produce doesn’t last long on a pirate ship, so scalawags coveted this landlubber delicacy. However, with Veggie Confetti on-board, Pirates can now use a kit and grow their own fresh greens while at sea for two weeks at a time.

Olives, jams, jellies, and other items kept in barrels or jars can last for months and were staples on the ship, and they are all available at the farmers market!

If you are going to live aboard a pirate’s ship, you best be a fan of seafood and All About U.S. offers fresh Alaskan salmon, scallops, salmon burgers and smoked salmon dip every Saturday. Chesser Seafood brings shrimp every week, too, so our Pirates won’t want for this NE Florida specialty.

The Captain’s personal chef prepared meals for his weary crew everyday, but I bet they never had a prepared meal like the ones Bottega by Liz Grenamyer brings to the market each week.

You will find so many more booths full of delicious treats fit for the Pirate in your life, and Taylor’s Treats brings something special for your scurvy dog, too.

We hope you will join us from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, on North Seventh Street in historic Fernandina Beach on September 19th.
