The 5th Amelia Island Film Festival Opens March 21

The 5th edition of the Amelia Island Film Festival takes off on March 21 with an impressive program of more than forty feature, shorts and documentary films.

The 5th edition of the Amelia Island Film Festival kicks off at 5:30pm at o’Kane’s on Centre Street with a Wine Tasting by A Taste of Wine by Steve, followed by the 5th Annual Red Carpet Event at 7pm. During the Red Carpet you will have a chance to get interviewed, have your picture taken, as well as a chance to meet several film makers & directors.

At 7:30pm the Main Event features Guest Host Speaker Kiara C. Jones.

Kiara is an award winning Writer, Director and Producer with honors for her work from HBO, BET, Lifetime Television Network, PBS and FOX. She is the proprietor of Cultivated Films, LLC, a New York based production company that is dedicated to producing films by under-represented storytellers and providing a nurturing environment where Writers and Directors can explore their voices.

The daughter of a Bronx, Brooklyn love story, Kiara began her creative career in Jacksonville, FL as a poet and hip hop artist. She transformed her love for storytelling into an award winning career in broadcast radio and television. After traveling the world exploiting her talents on and off camera, she settled under the bright neon lights of Las Vegas, producing the shows and events.

Two Great Films will be Showcased on Opening Night

Barbasol – A Short Film written by Kiara Jones / 22min.
Storyline: A Man desires a bond with his elderly father who is slipping further into dementia. He learns that he now needs to turn his attention towards his son.

The Story of Luke – a Feature Film directed by Alonso Mayo /95 min.

Storyline: Sheltered by his grandparents, a young man with Autism is thrust into a World that expects nothing from him and has seemingly little to offer him. He undertakes a quest to find both a job and his true love.
