Great outside sporting events are springing up in our area in the next few weeks. It is not often that we are able to welcome a local TV celebrity to speak at the EABC meeting. Well, we did it this time and Donna Deegan, author, breast cancer awareness advocate and former weekday television anchor on the First Coast News agreed to enlighten us about her cause. Did you know that Donna is an avid marathon runner who started “26.2 with Donna” the National Marathon to fight Breast Cancer? Imagine over 7,000 runners showed up at the inaugural run in 2006. If you are a marathon runner you may want to know how you can join for the next race which is scheduled for February 13-15.

Other than that it will also be interesting to hear Donna speak about some of the many awards and recognitions she received during her career. She received awards such as the Jacksonville Business Journal Women of Influence Award in 2004 and the Enterprising Women’s Leadership Award in 2005, just to mention a few. She might be able to give you some very valid pointers on how she went about and got to where she is in her career today.

Come join us for this exciting EABC meeting Tuesday, February 10 at the Amelia River Golf Club (4477 Buccaneer Trail – Amelia Island, FL 32034) at 6 pm.

You cannot make it that day or time? Well, this is probably the only time we have the opportunity to meet Donna and speak with her up-close and personal. However, we understand if you cannot make it to the meeting this time.

The EABC usually meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Amelia River Golf Club. We have to charge $12 admission so we can pay the bills. But the food is included in the cost and is prepared by the club’s chef. There is an open bar serving some of the best wines and liquor and beers. Coffee, tea and soft drinks are also available.

Everyone is invited to our meetings so bring your friends and guest for this fun filled evening of excitement, fellowship and yes, even gain some valuable business connections at the same time.

EABC speakers and topics are announced each month via email. For more information visit the website www.eabcnetwork.com.

Hope to see you at one of our meetings.
