The Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market and the Fernandina Beach Arts Market will be open Saturday December 1, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., rain or shine.
We have many returning vendors and lots of amazing products in both markets. In the Arts Market you’ll find jewelry, handbags, leather, metal works, woodworking, tie dye and custom designed fabrics. Look for planters, garden art, outdoor benches, household furniture, artwork, and stained glass. In the farmers market you will find home grown, handmade, or uniquely produced food and body products. Some of our seasonal vendors have begun their winter residency back on Amelia Island.
Returning again this season is Steephill Designs and their incredible maple syrup. This is harvested from their Vermont farm and available at the farmers market twice a month through April. Amanda’s Baked Confections is back in the farmers market with her delicious cakes, cupcakes, and other sweet treats. Also returning this week is An Unbelieveable Egg Roll, Lulu’s at the Thompson House, Simply Savory Dips, and others.
Lettuce has recently been in the news and our lettuce vendor, Bacon’s Select Product, grows their lettuce in greenhouses located in Oceanway, Florida. There is something comforting about knowing the man behind the table is the man who is growing your food. Sold with the roots intact, this lettuce will stay fresh much longer than traditional grocery store lettuce. Bacon’s has red and green butterhead, kale, and seedless cucumbers.
Everyone is tired of turkey this week, so visit Eddie and Debbie Chesser’s booth with their wild caught shrimp. They bring hundreds of pounds of shrimp each Saturday and still sell out before the Market Place closes at 1:00 p.m., so please call – or text – your pre-orders to Debbie at (904) 509-3337; she will be happy to reserve your shrimp.
Our “Take a Bag, Leave a Bag” program is in full swing. If you find yourself at the farmers market without a reusable sack, please stop by the management booth and pick up one for free. If you have too many in your car or pantry, please drop some off. Working together, we can remind each other to reuse these bags and reduce a bit of plastic waste.
Alex Delfs, the daughter of one of Amelia Island’s favorite couples, Julie and Mark Delfs, will be entertaining you and your guests at the arts and farmers markets on December 1, 2018.
