What is a Gig Economy?

Have your assumptions about employment challenged.

As part of the Business Speaker Series, Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) will host “Reshaping Your Career Options: The Rise of the Gig Economy,” with CareerSource Northeast Florida’s Vice President of Communications Candace Moody. Her dynamic presentation will challenge the audience’s assumptions about gigs and traditional employment while preparing them for the next step in their careers.

In her role at CareerSource Northeast Florida, the regional workforce development organization, Ms. Moody directs corporate communications and community outreach for six counties. She has written for the Florida Times-Union from 2007 to 2018, and is now featured in the Jacksonville Business Journal and other media on the topic of employment issues. She has served as an adjunct instructor for Jacksonville University’s Davis School of Business since 2012, and teaches an Executive Leadership and Communications Seminar to seniors twice a year. She was named a 2009 Woman of Influence by the Jacksonville Business Journal and was selected as the Corporate Leader of the year in 2011 by the Women Business Owners of North Florida.

All are welcome to attend this free event, including students, aspiring entrepreneurs and current gig-holders. Online registration is required. Visit fscj.edu/business-speakers to register and learn more.

The Business Speaker Series was made possible by a $250,000 commitment from First Florida Credit Union to support initiatives that will help local students and community members become future business leaders. The funding helped launch the series and will bolster the College’s Financial Skills Academy over the span of five years.
