I just got a phone call from my wife, who excitedly researched the internet this afternoon (New Year’s Eve) to find everything about the ingredients needed for a traditional lucky meal. She went roaming the shelves at the local Publix looking for Black Eyed Peas and Cabbage and Greens and told me to get Pork out of the freezer. Chicken and Lobster were forbidden as they apparently have a function in the past. Amusing I thought, but hey…who knows where the truth lies anymore. She called excited because she happily laid her hands on the last cabbage and the last 4 cans of beans. Seems that the meal is a go ahead.
It also looks like a lot of people out there are covering every base available to make sure that 2010 will be a better year. I can’t remember the last time I saw cabbage being sold out.
Come to think of it, this is what the government should do if they want people to start spending again. Build extensive food pyramid traditions with special incentives. I could easily see Red Beets and Red Cabbage get a great plug for Valentine’s Day and how about Asparagus and Cauli Flower for people with bladder problems.
Well Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2010 Everyone
