Lynne Ruppel talks about Jazz and the Amelia Jazz Festival to the Amelia Island Rotary Club – Sunrise
Fernandina Beach, FL – Lynne Ruppel, the Amelia Island Jazz Festival Fundraiser team leader, presented a short but very informative history of Jazz, a true American art form. She used words such as “optimistic”, “challenge”, “change”, “innovation”, “improvisation”, “sincerity”, and “integrity” to define the American Story and its music; Jazz.
She also mentioned that for the first time in the 5 year history of the Amelia Island Jazz Festival there will be performances every day of the week of October 3 to 10. New events like “Jazz at the Movies” presenting a video clip in collaboration with the Amelia Island Film Festival of the last life performance of Count Basie, and “Red, White & Blues” at the Crab Trap were added this year. In her words, thanks to the availability of the auditorium at First Baptist Church the Jazz Festival is truly able to bring World Class Jazz to Amelia Island.
